Praxis Cut Down in HZFJ-M by a Lone Gist Cherubim

A Goonswarm Federation Praxis was destroyed in HZFJ-M after a lone attacker in a Gist Cherubim brought the ship down in a brief but costly encounter worth 1.5 billion ISK. The fight was over almost as soon as it began, but the result left no doubt about the danger of travelling with an expensive battlecruiser in reach of hostile hunters.

THE CATCH

The loss went to THKZY01 of Peoples Liberation Army, flying under the Goonswarm Federation banner, while the attack was attributed to a single unaligned pilot. With only two participants recorded, this appears to have been a sharply localised encounter rather than a broader fleet action. The Praxis itself was the prize and the casualty, a ship that can absorb a lot of punishment but is still vulnerable when the wrong engagement lands at the wrong moment.

THE BREAK

The final blow came from an unknown attacker in a Gist Cherubim, a ship more usually associated with speed and pressure than with prolonged brawling. That suggests the Praxis was isolated or caught at a disadvantage, unable to outlast the incoming damage once the exchange turned against it. The attacker’s damage total of 47,810 points points to a focused takedown rather than a drifting, accidental loss.

THE LOSSES

The destruction consumed 805.3 million ISK of the hull and fittings, while 723.6 million ISK appears to have been recovered from the wreck. Among the destroyed and dropped cargo were Federation Navy Hammerhead drones, a Dark Blood Large Armor Repairer, a Capacitor Power Relay II, and a Domination Large Proton Smartbomb, underlining that this was not a lightly fit throwaway ship. The Praxis had been carrying enough faction and deadspace hardware to make the wreck worth the effort.

WHY IT MATTERS

In New Eden, a single successful catch can be as telling as a larger fleet clash. This one shows how quickly a valuable ship can be peeled away from its owner when a hunter gets the opening they need, and it leaves Goonswarm Federation with one more expensive reminder that even a lone attacker can make a convoy, roam, or home-space transit turn into a very bad day.
