Machariel Loss in IPX-H5 Ends a Brief but Costly Clash

A 6.2 billion ISK skirmish in IPX-H5 ended with a Machariel and its capsule destroyed in a matter of seconds, as Invidia Gloriae Comes traded fire against its own name and an outside Sansha’s Dreadnought presence added an eerie edge to the fight.

THE CATCH

The engagement in IPX-H5 was over almost as soon as it began. In the five-pilot clash, Invidia Gloriae Comes found itself on both sides of the exchange, with the fight centred on a Machariel flown by fengchuiyuzhe of Zhuque squad. The ship was worth 3.6 billion ISK on paper, and the destruction of the hull and its capsule pushed the total loss to 6.2 billion ISK across the brief encounter.

THE MACHARIEL BREAKS

The final blow went to shanyuantiangao, also in a Machariel, after four attackers concentrated fire on the target. Three more Machariels from the same alliance — shanyuantiangao, yanshuihan, and Wu Yi Hai — accounted for the bulk of the damage, a clear sign that the victim was caught under heavy, deliberate pressure. An unidentified Sansha’s Dreadnought attacker also appears in the report, lending the scene an unusual and unsettling note even if its role was limited by comparison.

WHAT THE HULL CARRIED

The losses were not just in ship value. The Machariel’s fitting included expensive navy and imperial-grade modules, some destroyed outright and others recovered in the wreckage. Praetor II drones were also lost, while a Republic Fleet Large Cap Battery and an Imperial Navy Large EMP Smartbomb were among the items that dropped. Even in a very short fight, the wreck suggests a combat ship fitted for serious work rather than a disposable roam.

THE AFTERMATH

For a fight that lasted only five seconds, the result was sharp and expensive. The loss of a battleship-class platform and its capsule in such a compressed window suggests a rapid collapse once the target was pinned down. In a region where every major ship represents real commitment, this kind of strike can be enough to unsettle a hunt, interrupt an operation, or simply remind everyone how quickly a confident ship can become a wreck in New Eden.
