A Goonswarm Federation Cerberus was destroyed in AD200 on Sunday night after a brief clash with Veles Clade ended in a 1.3 billion ISK loss. The cruiser’s escape appears to have been short-lived, with a single Ghosting Kikimora landing the final blow in a fight that lasted only moments.

THE CATCH

The engagement in AD200 was over almost as soon as it began, but the outcome was anything but minor. Thorius Novus of Goonswarm Federation, flying a Cerberus for Brothers of Tyr, lost the ship in a small encounter involving just three participants. For a strategic cruiser priced at 1.3 billion ISK, even a short exposure can become fatal when hostile eyes are already on it.

THE KILL

Veles Clade fielded the lone attacker credited with the destruction, an unidentified pilot in a Ghosting Kikimora. That ship delivered 33,472 damage and secured the final blow, suggesting the Cerberus was pressured hard enough that no recovery window remained. The loss was especially sharp because much of the hull’s fitted value disappeared with it, while only 963.8 million ISK appears to have been recovered.

THE LOSSES

The Cerberus was carrying a substantial amount of ammunition and support gear, including Caldari Navy Scourge heavy assault missiles, Scourge Rage heavy assault missiles, Caldari Navy Scourge heavy missiles, nanite repair paste, and a Triglavian Survey Database. Some cargo made it out, but a large portion was destroyed with the ship. That mix points to a vessel prepared for extended fighting, only to be caught before it could use its stockpile.

WHY IT MATTERS

A loss like this matters less for the scale of the engagement than for the value concentrated in a single hull. Strategic cruisers are never cheap casualties, and a Cerberus falling to a lone hostile suggests how quickly a confident move through contested space can turn costly. In New Eden, even a brief encounter can leave a long and expensive mark.
