Bustard Caught and Crushed in Gheth Ambush

A 3.3 billion ISK Bustard was torn apart in Gheth after 16 attackers in Catalysts caught the transport in a sharp, one-sided ambush. The destruction left only part of its cargo intact, but the loss of the hull and what was destroyed with it still marked a costly end to a seemingly brief encounter.

THE CATCH

The loss centred on Jack Cyana’s Bustard of Weapons of Mass Logistics, destroyed in Gheth at 17:25 UTC. On paper it was a transport, but the value attached to the ship suggests it was carrying far more than empty freight space. By the time the attack landed, the trap had already closed: 16 pilots from I LOVE MINING ITS SO FUN converged in disposable Catalysts and began stripping the ship down before it could get clear.

THE BREAK

Taikao Isimazu delivered the final blow, but the damage had clearly been shared across the attacking swarm. Lovin Jr, FleetJump Jump, Lorenzo v0n Matterhorn and Mrs Stinsfire all added significant pressure in their own Catalysts, helping overwhelm the Bustard through sheer speed and concentrated fire. With 19 participants recorded around the engagement, the fight appears to have been brief but tightly focused, the kind of ambush that gives a target very little room to react.

THE LOSSES

The ship itself was a Bustard, but the real sting lay in what went with it. Roughly 993.2 million ISK in hull and fittings was destroyed, while another 2.3 billion ISK appears to have been recovered from the wreck. Even so, the destroyed cargo included large quantities of Caldari Navy heavy missiles, and 30,000 Inferno Fury Heavy Missiles were lost outright. For a transport, that is the sort of cargo that turns an ordinary catch into an expensive strike.

WHY IT MATTERS

Bustards are built to move value, and that makes them dangerous prizes when they are caught exposed. This one did not survive long enough to become anything more than a wreck in Gheth, and the attack by I LOVE MINING ITS SO FUN suggests a hunt that was deliberate rather than accidental. For Weapons of Mass Logistics and Jack Cyana, it is an expensive reminder that even a logistics hull can become a frontline casualty when the wrong eyes find it at the wrong moment.
