A Goonswarm Federation Widow worth 1.6 billion ISK was destroyed in IAK-JW after an Archangels attack ended a brief but costly encounter. The Black Ops battleship, flown by Rechella of EVE-RO, was caught by a lone attacker and went down with most of its value still trapped inside the hull.

THE CATCH

The fight in IAK-JW was over almost as soon as it began. What the data shows is a very small engagement — just three participants — but one that ended with an expensive Black Ops battleship burning into wreckage. The Widow, one of New Eden’s more specialized and unforgiving ships, was destroyed by an Archangels pilot flying an Angel Tribunus.

THE LOSS

Rechella’s ship carried a total value of 1.6 billion ISK, with around 1.3 billion ISK destroyed in the explosion and another 355.2 million ISK recovered. Among the items lost with the hull were large quantities of Nitrogen Isotopes and Nova Auto-Targeting Cruise Missile I ammunition, suggesting the Widow was fitted and stocked for operations rather than sitting empty and vulnerable. For a ship designed to project force from the shadows, being caught in such a narrow engagement is a costly reversal.

THE FINISH

The final blow was credited to an unidentified attacker aboard an Angel Tribunus, who appears to have done all the damage in the encounter. That points to a sharply focused hunt rather than a sprawling fleet action. In a system where the whole engagement was contained to a single moment, the outcome hinged on one target, one attacker, and a Black Ops hull that never managed to get clear.

WHY IT MATTERS

A Widow is not a routine loss. Even when the numbers are small, the destruction of a ship like this carries weight because of what it represents: mobility, covert power, and serious ISK tied up in one hull. In IAK-JW, Archangels came away with the prize, while Goonswarm Federation lost a heavily invested ship in a fight that leaves little room for consolation.
