THE CATCH
The engagement in KE-0FB was over almost as soon as it began, but the outcome was decisive. FengChao jin-5 of Goonswarm Federation lost a Widow to an apparently lone hostile listed only as an unaligned attacker. With just two participants on the field, there was no room for reinforcements or a prolonged exchange; once the target was committed, the fight appears to have swung immediately in the attacker’s favor.
THE PRIZE
The Widow is never a casual loss, and this one carried the sort of value that makes even a short engagement memorable. The ship and its fittings were valued at 2.1 billion ISK, with 1.7 billion ISK destroyed and another 403.8 million ISK recovered from the wreck. Among the cargo and modules, Nova cruise missile ammunition and nitrogen isotopes were either destroyed or scattered, suggesting the ship was equipped for serious operations when it was caught.
THE FINAL BLOW
The final blow came from a Gistatis Praefectus flown by an attacker whose identity remains unknown. That detail matters less for the label than for the implication: a smaller ship, or at least a more agile one, was able to bring down a much heavier black ops battleship. The damage record shows 27,197 points dealt by the attacker, enough to finish the job and leave the Widow with nowhere to go.
WHY IT MATTERS
For Goonswarm Federation, the loss is less about the brevity of the encounter and more about the exposure of a high-value battleship in hostile space. A Widow is a specialized asset, and losing one in a two-pilot skirmish is the kind of event that can ripple far beyond the grid itself. In KE-0FB, the hunter got the prize, and the victim paid the full cost of a bad moment at the wrong time.
