A Widow worth more than 1 billion ISK was caught and destroyed in Jan, ending what appears to have been a very short and sharp engagement. The black ops battleship flown by Dark Watcher of BLOBinA, within the alliance Can i bring my Drake..., was brought down by Teh Tripple in an Oracle after a small four-pilot clash that left the larger ship as the clear prize.

THE CATCH

The fight in Jan was over almost as soon as it began, but the outcome was anything but routine. A Widow, one of New Eden’s most dangerous covert-capable battleships, was caught in a small local engagement involving just four pilots. The scale suggests a close hunt rather than a sprawling fleet action, with the expensive ship exposed long enough for State War Academy to force the issue.

THE FINAL BLOW

The decisive strike came from Teh Tripple flying an Oracle, who landed the final blow and secured the destruction of the Widow. With 22,983 damage done, the Oracle did the heavy lifting in a fight that appears to have been compressed into a brief but lethal exchange. For Dark Watcher, the margin for error was effectively gone once the battle turned into a direct trade of damage against a ship built to be hunted carefully.

THE LOSSES

The wreck told the story of a ship caught on the wrong side of a bad moment. Of the Widow’s value, 961.5 million ISK was destroyed and only 40.8 million ISK recovered. Notable items lost with the hull included 63,983 Nitrogen Isotopes, 150 units of Liquid Ozone, Caldari Navy Vespa drones, Hornet EC-300 drones, and Heavy Infectious Scoped Energy Neutralizers, reinforcing the sense of a fit meant for serious work rather than cheap experimentation.

A Widow is not the kind of ship that disappears quietly. Its loss in Jan likely stings not only because of the price tag, but because of what the hull represents: mobility, covert threat, and the ability to project force from the shadows.
