The ship was flown for Rainbow Dash Alliance and Otter Stealth Ops - Administratum, while the attacking pressure came from Ascom Royal with support from Goonswarm Federation and other attackers on the field. What might have been a hard-hitting Marauder instead became the centerpiece of a coordinated hunt in Aufay.
THE GRIND
The data suggests a concentrated close-range attack. Test Bull’s Catalyst delivered the final blow, but the damage was spread across multiple attackers, including Moa and Catalyst hulls that kept the Vargur under constant pressure. The ship’s loaded weapons tell part of the story: Hail L was destroyed in large quantity, with additional stocks of Republic Fleet Phased Plasma L and Barrage L also lost or scattered, pointing to a fight that left little room for escape or recovery once the target was pinned down.
THE BREAK
The Vargur did not go quietly. More than 4.3 billion ISK in total losses across the engagement suggests a fight with enough weight to draw committed fire, and the attackers needed 10 ships to bring the Marauder down. The final exchange appears to have been decided by sustained pressure rather than a single dramatic strike, with several attackers contributing meaningful damage before the Catalyst closed the account.
WHY IT MATTERS
A Marauder loss always leaves a mark, but this one is especially stark because of the value committed and the number of ships required to secure it. In a brief window in Aufay, the attackers turned one expensive hull into a costly wreck and reminded nearby pilots that even heavily armed ships can be erased when they are caught exposed. For the defender, it was a painful end; for the hunters, it was a prize worth the effort.
