THE CATCH
The fight in Taisy appears to have been brief, but it was not gentle. What began as a nine-participant clash quickly turned into a concentrated loss for Fraternity.’s Hich, flying a Vargur under SpaceFire Holding. The ship stood out immediately: a heavily committed Marauder, expensive enough to make any exposure dangerous and valuable enough to draw attention the moment it was isolated.
THE PRESSURE BUILDS
The attack came from a small but effective mix of ships. Lucky.Punch provided the killing edge, while other forces added pressure around the target, including a Curse, an Osprey, and even an unexpected Tower Sentry Angel III among the attackers recorded in the exchange. The numbers suggest the Vargur was not simply overwhelmed by one decisive strike, but worn down by layered damage and interference until escape was no longer realistic.
THE BREAK
When the final shot landed, it came from The Dexter in a Proteus. By then, the Vargur had already absorbed substantial damage, and the wreck tells the rest of the story: 2.9 billion ISK destroyed, with only 1.1 billion ISK of fittings and cargo recovered. The ship’s ammunition loadout — Hail L, Barrage L, and Republic Fleet Titanium Sabot L — was largely lost with it, underscoring how quickly a prepared warship can become a prize for whoever closes the net first.
WHY IT MATTERS
For Fraternity., the loss is significant not because it was part of a larger battle, but because a single Marauder slipped away into destruction in a matter of moments. For Lucky.Punch, it is a clean and expensive catch, one that demonstrates how much can be gained when a high-value target is pinned in the wrong place at the wrong time. In New Eden, that kind of mistake rarely gets a second chance.
