The losses were split between a Bustard and a Mastodon, but the heavier blow was the Mastodon itself — a 3.2 billion ISK prize that appears to have been cornered before escape was possible.

THE CATCH

The engagement in Sivala lasted just over half an hour, but the result was decided in moments once the hunters closed the distance. Eighteen pilots were involved across the fight, with Vendetta Mercenary Group and R.E.M.N.A.N.T.S on the attacking side and haulers tied to Kollective efforts and Insane Miners MK II caught in the crossfire. What began as movement through dangerous space ended with two transport ships destroyed and the field tilted sharply toward the attackers.

THE PRIZE

The Mastodon carried the most weight in every sense. Piloted by Foylin Garine of Insane Miners MK II, it was destroyed for a total value of 3.2 billion ISK, with 2.2 billion ISK dropped and 937.3 million ISK lost with the hull. The ship’s cargo and fittings included large amounts of Electromechanical Hull Sheeting, Standup Light Missile, Neurovisual Input Matrix, and Modified Fluid Router, suggesting a haul valuable enough to make the vessel itself a tempting target.

THE BREAK

The final blow came from Ch4rli3 flying a Hound for R.E.M.N.A.N.T.S, after the attackers had already committed 11 pilots to the destruction of the Mastodon. Support came from more Hounds, a Gnosis, and additional Vendetta ships, indicating a coordinated hunt rather than a lone opportunistic strike. The presence of multiple bomber hulls suggests the target was pinned down long enough for the attackers to finish the job cleanly.

THE LOSSES

The Mastodon was not the only transport lost. A Bustard also went down in the same fight, bringing the total destruction to 5.1 billion ISK across two ships. For the defenders, that is a hard and immediate blow: expensive cargo lost, logistics interrupted, and a clear reminder that even routine transport moves can become high-risk commitments the moment hostile eyes are watching.
