THE CATCH
The loss unfolded in a fight that involved only two participants, but the scale of the ship made it anything but routine. Pyc DaMa’s Thanatos, a capital hull with the weight of a carrier’s support and endurance behind it, was brought down in the KJ-V0P system on 5 June. The attacker was listed simply as an unaligned pilot in a Gist Cherubim, an unusual enough ship to suggest this was a hunt rather than a straight fleet trade.
THE BREAK
The engagement was over almost as soon as it began. The Thanatos was the only ship destroyed, and the final blow came from the Cherubim after 260,261 damage was dealt by the attacker. The carrier’s losses were severe: 3.6 billion ISK destroyed and another 851.8 million ISK recovered by the victors, leaving little doubt that the target was isolated and vulnerable when the trap closed.
THE LOSSES
What made the destruction sting was not just the hull itself, but what went with it. More than 52,000 oxygen isotopes were lost, alongside fighters and support assets including Templar I and Siren I drones, nanite repair paste, and mobile depots. For a Thanatos, those details point to a ship that was carrying the practical tools of life in space — and could not escape with them.

A carrier does not vanish quietly, even in low-visibility circumstances like this. For Invidia Gloriae Comes, the destruction of Pyc DaMa’s Thanatos is a costly reminder that capitals remain exposed when they are caught without support. For the attacker, it was a sharp, highly profitable strike: a single ship, a single pilot, and a prized target erased in one encounter.
