THE CATCH
The fight unfolded over barely two minutes, but the result was expensive. In Erila, Snuffed Out and associated pilots met Lan'Tean Imperium in a compact engagement that appears to have centered on a single valuable Rattlesnake. The scale was modest by New Eden standards, yet the value at stake was anything but. When the ship finally went down, the battlefield had already become a concentrated exchange of capital-grade attention around one heavily loaded battleship.
THE HUNT
The Rattlesnake belonged to Nightmare Slave Ten of Lan'Tean Imperium, flying under Bad Dragon Sales Associates. Against it came at least 19 attackers on the top loss alone, with Snuffed Out fielding Redeemers, a Panther, a Widow, and a Cenotaph among the ships identified. Turbokat's Cenotaph dealt the heaviest share of the pressure, while MrEcco in a Redeemer landed the killing blow. The attacker lineup suggests a deliberate hunt rather than a passing skirmish, with covert vessels positioned to overwhelm the target before it could escape.
THE BREAK
What the Rattlesnake carried made its loss sting even more. Cargo records show large quantities of Caldari Navy cruise missiles split between dropped and destroyed ammunition, hinting at a ship prepared for long-range pressure and already deep into its combat stores. The hull itself accounted for more than 1.2 billion ISK in destroyed value, and the total impact of the engagement reached 9.6 billion ISK across eight losses. Even in a fight of this size, that single ship stood out as the prize everyone was racing to secure.
WHY IT MATTERS
For Lan'Tean Imperium, the loss was not just the destruction of a battleship but the loss of a high-value, well-armed platform in a system where small windows of vulnerability can decide everything. For Snuffed Out, the result demonstrates how quickly a coordinated covert response can turn an apparently brief encounter into a costly collapse. Erila now reads as another place where moving a valuable hull without support can become a fatal gamble, especially when black-ops ships are already waiting in the dark.
