The fight in Illamur was brief, but the result was decisive. Kanaria Stardust’s Rattlesnake, flown for Red Cross Castle, was brought down in an encounter involving eight participants and three attackers tied to Parallaxis Alliance. What stands out is not the size of the engagement, but the value of the ship caught in it: a heavy missile battleship worth far more than a typical roaming target and carrying enough ammunition to suggest it was prepared for serious work.
THE KILLING BLOW
The final blow came from Dwark in a Redeemer, with Ant Onim also dealing heavy damage in another Redeemer. That points to a compact and dangerous attack package, one capable of applying sudden pressure and ending the engagement before the target could meaningfully recover. The Rattlesnake did not survive long enough to escape the trap once the attackers had it pinned down.
THE LOSSES
When the wreck was stripped, only 45 million ISK in items remained, while much of the value vanished with the hull itself. The destroyed ammunition load alone hints at a ship fitted and stocked for combat, not just travel. For Red Cross Castle, losing a 1.4 billion ISK battleship in a fast encounter is the kind of setback that stings twice: first in the immediate loss, then in the realization that so much value disappeared in a matter of moments.
WHY IT MATTERS
Single-ship losses like this rarely change a region on their own, but they do show how quickly exposed expensive assets can become prey in New Eden. Illamur saw a high-value target erased by a small but lethal pair of Redeemers, and that is the lesson of the night: even a powerful battleship can become little more than a prize when the hunters get the timing right.
