Praxis Lost in 5C-RPA After Brief, Brutal Exchange

A 1.6 billion ISK Praxis was destroyed in 5C-RPA after a short but punishing engagement that saw four SONS of BANE pilots and an unidentified Angel Dreadnought attacker pile onto the ship at close range. The loss left little room for recovery, with expensive fittings torn apart as the battle ended almost as soon as it began.

THE CATCH

The fight in 5C-RPA appears to have been over almost before it could properly develop. A Praxis flown by Taala Suun of Raised By Boars, under the SONS of BANE banner, was caught and overwhelmed in a five-participant engagement that turned into a concentrated strike on a single hull. With only a handful of pilots on the field, the encounter had the feel of a sudden interception rather than a drawn-out brawl.

THE PRESSURE BUILDS

The attacking force was led by Lincoln Tyr, whose Praxis delivered the final blow after inflicting 50,504 points of damage. Thomas Vali and Svyato Svaughen also contributed significant fire, while an unidentified attacker in an Angel Dreadnought added another 31,877 damage. That mix of subcapital pressure and capital-scale fire suggests the target was not given much chance to disengage once the attack was underway.

THE LOSSES

The destroyed Praxis carried fittings that underline just how costly the catch was. A Domination Large Proton Smartbomb and a Republic Fleet Large Cap Battery were lost in the destruction, while a Large Micro Jump Drive dropped from the wreck. In all, 819.7 million ISK worth of equipment was destroyed and 766.8 million ISK worth was recovered, leaving the loss expensive even by the standards of New Eden’s border warfare.

THE SIGNIFICANCE

What makes the encounter stand out is not its size, but its sharpness: a high-value ship, destroyed quickly, with the full cost landing in a matter of moments. For SONS of BANE and Raised By Boars, the loss of a Praxis in this manner is a reminder that even sturdy hulls can be erased fast when the wrong target is isolated at the wrong time.
