Praxis Falls in HZFJ-M After Brief Solo Ambush

A Goonswarm Federation Praxis was destroyed in HZFJ-M in a sharp, two-pilot exchange that ended almost as quickly as it began. The 1.5 billion ISK loss turned on a single attacker in a Gist Cherubim, who landed the final blow and left the battleship wrecked before help could matter.

THE CATCH

The encounter in HZFJ-M appears to have been a sudden interception rather than a prolonged fight. With only two participants on the field, the larger, more expensive ship was left exposed long enough for an unaligned attacker to commit hard and force the issue. In New Eden, that kind of brief opening is often all it takes.

THE PRAXIS IS BROKEN

The victim, THKZY01 of Goonswarm Federation and Peoples Liberation Army, lost a Praxis fitted for a fight it never got to fully shape. Among the wreckage were faction drones, a Dark Blood Large Armor Repairer, and other modules that suggest a heavy combat fit built to stay on grid. Some of that equipment dropped, but a large share of the value was still destroyed with the hull.

ONE ATTACKER, FINAL BLOW

The damage came from a single attacker flying a Gist Cherubim, identified only as an unknown pilot from an unaligned corporation. That ship delivered 47,810 damage and the final blow, enough to finish the battleship before the situation could turn. The fact that one hostile ship was enough to collapse the target underlines how quickly the engagement was decided.

THE COST OF A SHORT FIGHT

What remains is a costly loss for the pilot and a clean prize for the hunter. At 1.5 billion ISK, this was no routine skirmish casualty, and the destruction of an expensive Praxis in a quiet, isolated exchange will be noticed by anyone moving valuable ships through the area. In EVE, some of the most expensive lessons arrive without warning and are over almost before the overview can catch up.
