Paladin Lost in a Sudden Ambush in System 30000848

A Fraternity. Paladin was caught and destroyed in a brief but costly strike in System 30000848, with three attackers bringing down the marauder in a fight that ended almost as quickly as it began. The wreck left behind a 2.3B ISK loss and a reminder that even heavily armed ships can be made vulnerable when they are isolated.

THE CATCH

The engagement appears to have been a sharp interception rather than a prolonged exchange. Four pilots were on field when the Paladin was destroyed, but the balance of risk was badly tilted against the Fraternity. ship once the attackers committed. The marauder fell in the same moment the fight began, suggesting the target was found exposed and denied any chance to disengage cleanly.

THE BREAKDOWN

The Paladin was an expensive prize in its own right, and the aftermath shows how much of it was lost in the destruction. About 1.6B ISK in value was destroyed, with another 750.5M ISK recovered or dropped from the wreck. The ship’s cargo and fittings included large stacks of Conflagration L and Scorch L, along with Nanite Repair Paste and Acolyte II drones, all of which underline that this was a properly armed combat vessel rather than a lightly fitted loss.

THE FINAL BLOW

The last strike came from a Scourge Torpedo, credited to an unidentified attacker among the unaligned strike group. Three attackers were involved in total, including two additional unidentified ships that helped apply overwhelming pressure. One attacker alone accounted for the bulk of the damage, with the remaining ships contributing enough to close the trap before the Paladin could recover.

WHY IT MATTERS

For Fraternity., the loss of a Paladin is more than a routine setback. Marauders are powerful ships, but they are also expensive and unforgiving when caught at the wrong moment. In a matter of seconds, an asset worth billions was removed from the field, making this a clean and punishing kill for the attackers and a costly reminder of how quickly a high-end hull can be stripped apart in New Eden.

Big Vantus Paid 15 Ships Toward Pochven's 72 Billion ISK Tab

Of the 47 ships destroyed in Ignebaener, 46 were, in ISK terms, background noise. The 47th was a Paladin valued at just under 57.5 billion ISK - close to four-fifths of everything the system destroyed in one sitting. One hull, one pilot, one very bad moment, and the number that will define this fight long after the killboards stop updating.

Brave Newbies Lost 21 Ships in 4-07MU and Shot Back With Interest

Somewhere around 19:25 UTC, a Caracal Navy Issue died in 4-07MU and 912 pilots decided that was a reasonable invitation. Two hours later the system had produced 200 wrecks, 67.2 billion ISK of damage, and not one capital ship - just battleship after battleship feeding itself into a fight that refused to end. The killboards call it a gank. The killboards are only half right.

Solyaris Chtonium Killed Redux.'s Avatar as 1,166 Pilots Watched

The last thing an Avatar expects to be doing is dying in lowsec, but Amamake has been ruining plans for a very long time. Redux.'s Amarr Titan - one of the largest and most expensive warships in New Eden - came apart in the Heimatar system with roughly 1,166 pilots involved in the kill, and a price tag of 142.7 billion ISK attached to a single loss.

Warlock Industries Alliance Lost 52 Billion ISK. It Wasn't Even a Capital.

Warlock Industries Alliance Lost 52 Billion ISK. It Wasn't Even a Capital.

Fifty-two point nine billion ISK, gone. One killmail. Eight hundred and forty-seven pilots on the record. Amamake has swallowed fleets, capitals, and more than a few alliances' sense of direction over the years. It has rarely swallowed 52.9 billion ISK in a single ship that was not even a capital. The victim was the Sarathiel, flying under the banner of Warlock Industries Alliance. The credited killer was Minmatar Fleet Associates. And every one of those 847 names belongs to the same kill.
