THE CATCH
The engagement was over as quickly as it began. In E-OGL4, a single Paladin found itself on the losing end of a small but costly encounter against one attacker. With only two participants on the field, there was no room for error, no reinforcements to shift the balance, and no margin for a battleship to absorb a mistake at the wrong moment.
THE FALL
The final blow came from an unknown attacker flying a Drone Heavy Missile Battery, an unusual and notably anonymous end for a ship of this class. The Paladin’s expensive frame gave up 2 billion ISK in destroyed assets, while another 1.9 billion ISK in fittings and cargo was recovered from the wreck. Among the losses were large stocks of Conflagration L and Scorch L, alongside destroyed Acolyte II drones, suggesting the ship was equipped for serious close-range work before it was pinned down.
THE PRICE OF OVEREXTENSION
For luyi18 and Fraternity., the loss of a Paladin is never a routine setback. The hull’s value alone placed it far above an ordinary skirmish casualty, and the fact that it fell to a lone hostile makes the destruction feel especially sharp. In New Eden, even the strongest armor can become a liability when a prized ship is isolated at the wrong time.
AFTERMATH
The fight leaves behind the cleanest kind of lesson: expensive ships attract attention, and attention in E-OGL4 proved fatal. Whether this was a hunt, an ambush, or a brief encounter that spiraled out of control, the result was the same — one Paladin lost, one attacker credited with the kill, and a 3.9 billion ISK loss that will be hard to ignore.
