THE CATCH
The encounter in 5IO8-U was brief but costly. A lone Paladin was overwhelmed in the presence of a small but dangerous collection of attackers, with the fight resolving in the same minute it began. For the pilot in Deep Cats, there was little room to maneuver once the net closed around the ship.
THE ATTACKERS
The pressure came from Domain Research and Mining Inst., with support from other pilots including a Panther, a Redeemer, and at least one additional Sin on the field. The composition suggests a coordinated hunt rather than a random brawl, and the presence of mixed allied and unaligned attackers may indicate the target was exposed long enough for several parties to converge on it.
THE BREAK
BertsMoM Smasher’s Sin ultimately secured the kill, but the damage had already been spread across multiple attackers by the time the Paladin went down. The wreck left only 34.8 million ISK in recoverables, while most of the value vanished with the ship itself. The salvage tells its own story: drones, modules, and scraps were either destroyed outright or stripped away in the aftermath.
THE COST
For The Curatores Veritatis Auxiliary, the loss of a Paladin is more than another ship destroyed in space. A battleship of that class is built to matter, and when one is lost for 1.4 billion ISK in a compact engagement, it becomes a reminder that even heavily armed hulls can be caught fast and punished harder. In 5IO8-U, the hunters got their prize before the target could slip free.
