THE CATCH
The engagement in RR-D05 appears to have been a very small but sharply executed interception, with only two participants recorded. Sigma Grindset’s Paladin, flown by Kaito Shinoda of Sensible People, became the centrepiece of the fight and the prize the attackers were clearly able to pin down. In a universe where marauding capitals and well-prepared defenders often pass one another by, this was the opposite: a target isolated, exposed, and destroyed before it could escape.
THE FINAL BLOW
The killing force is notable for its restraint as much as its size. One attacker, identified only as Unknown attacker, applied the decisive damage from a Sansha's Dreadnought, ending the ship after 215,795 points of damage were recorded from that final contributor. The ship itself suggests the outcome was never going to be a fair exchange once the dreadnought committed, and the Paladin had little room to absorb the pressure once it was caught. The wreck left behind a mix of destroyed equipment and salvageable modules, but not enough to soften the loss.
THE LOSSES
The Paladin’s destruction accounted for the full 2.5 billion ISK value of the engagement. Around 2 billion ISK was lost outright, while 464.2 million ISK worth of material was recovered. Among the more visible casualties were Scorch L ammunition, Conflagration L, Acolyte II drones, and multiple Mobile Tractor Units, suggesting the ship was carrying a working combat fit rather than travelling light. For Sigma Grindset, that is a sharp reminder that even a single expensive hull can become a major event when it is caught alone.
THE CONSEQUENCE
For all its small scale, the loss stands out because of the ship destroyed rather than the size of the field. A Paladin is not the kind of vessel that disappears quietly, and the involvement of a Sansha's Dreadnought as the final blow gives the incident an extra edge of danger. In RR-D05, the message is simple: a lone expensive hull can become a short-lived prize when an attacker finds the right opening and does not let go.
