THE HUNT
The engagement in HHK-VL appears to have been a compact but costly interception rather than a sprawling fleet battle. By the time it was over, 17 pilots had been drawn into the fight, with Invidia Gloriae Comes taking the field against a Northern Coalition. Paladin flown by SchirmerN of FinFleet. The destroyed ship alone accounted for 2.8 billion ISK of the total loss, with another 820.1 million ISK in fittings and cargo either dropped or destroyed.
THE CATCH
The Paladin’s defensive loadout suggests it was carrying the usual tools for a serious armored brawl: Navy Cap Booster 800s, Imperial Navy ammunition, and repair paste for keeping systems running under pressure. Once the ship was pinned, the attackers had enough time to strip away its protections and force the issue. The damage came from a mix of hulls, but the heaviest blows were delivered by two Caracal Navy Issue cruisers, with support from a Malediction, a Brutix Navy Issue, and a Retribution.
THE BREAK
westme1on landed the final blow in a Caracal Navy Issue after contributing just over 104,997 damage, narrowly edged in raw damage by Star for one’s matching Caracal Navy Issue. That kind of layered pressure suggests the target was being held in place while the gang kept the Paladin from escaping or stabilizing. In a fight of this size, a Marauder can become a trap for both sides: dangerous if it escapes, disastrous if it does not.
THE LOSSES
The Paladin’s collapse left behind a brutal reminder of the risk involved in committing a high-value ship into hostile space. Alongside the hull itself, 250 units of Nanite Repair Paste were destroyed, while the Paladin’s payload included ammunition and boosters that mostly failed to survive the wreck. For Northern Coalition., the cost was immediate and obvious; for Invidia Gloriae Comes, it was a clean and expensive catch that turned a short engagement into a headline loss.
