Pacifier, flown by Craftgerl of Thunder Shield, was destroyed in a short-range encounter that appears to have been shaped by a small but effective interception. With only four participants involved and just one ship lost, the fight was less a fleet collision than a sharp catch that ended badly for the target.
THE FINAL BLOW
The deciding strike came from xiaoheizii in a Proteus of The Black Shores. That final blow turned a vulnerable scouting hull into a 1.1 billion ISK loss for Fraternity., with roughly 563.3 million ISK destroyed and another 520.1 million ISK dropped into the aftermath. The Pacifier’s fitting suggests it was doing serious work of its own, carrying Spike S ammunition and Sisters Core Scanner Probes when it was caught.
THE LOSS
For Fraternity., the destruction of a Pacifier is the sort of setback that stings because of what the ship represents: speed, utility, and the ability to move through dangerous space with a degree of confidence. Once the Proteus landed the decisive damage, that flexibility disappeared in an instant. The kill also leaves behind the familiar frustration of a scout or hunter that was one step too exposed for one moment too long.
THE SIGNIFICANCE
This was not a large battle, but it did deliver a clear result. The Black Shores secured an expensive solo kill in G5ED-Y, and Fraternity. paid for a brief lapse in security with a high-value loss. In New Eden, that kind of clean interception can matter almost as much as a broader engagement: it denies mobility, removes a valuable ship from the field, and reminds everyone nearby that even fast hulls can be pinned down when the trap is set well.
