THE CATCH
The engagement began and ended quickly in Tama, where 17 pilots converged on what appears to have been a vulnerable industrial target. The heaviest loss was an Orca flown by Houfen of Extrum Mechanicum, valued at 1.5 billion ISK and carrying enough mining gear and ore to make it a prize worth the effort. What followed suggests the ship was caught before it could disengage cleanly, leaving the attackers time to bring concentrated fire onto a slow, costly target.
THE BREAK
The damage came from a mixed hunting force rather than a single banner. Black Rabbit. and Nourv Gate Security Commission were both present, and the final blow on the Orca came from Jaihden in a Vargur. Other attackers, including HarmlessOne in an Osprey Navy Issue and Guffor Atremi in a Caracal Navy Issue, helped grind the industrial down while a Nourv Gate Security Commission Apocalypse also joined the pressure. The Orca’s destruction suggests the target was outmatched once contact was made, with 9 attackers credited against the ship itself.
THE ESCAPE THAT FAILED
The Orca did not fall alone. A capsule was also destroyed in the same engagement, extending the loss beyond the ship itself and underlining how little room there was for a clean extraction once the trap closed. The short window between the start and end of the fight points to a swift collapse rather than a prolonged exchange, with the defenders unable to save either hull or pilot after the Orca was tackled and focused down.
THE LOSSES
Most of the value sits with the Orca: around 1.4 billion ISK destroyed and only 106.9 million ISK recovered. The wreck also shed mining cargo and fittings, including Jaspet ore and Mining Drone II units, while much of the Kernite II-Grade stock was lost outright. In practical terms, this was a fast and expensive removal of an industrial asset in a system where hesitation can be fatal.
