A heavily loaded Occator worth 8.4 billion ISK was caught and destroyed in PX-IHN, ending a short but costly encounter that left Goonswarm Federation with a painful loss and Rote Kapelle with a valuable prize.

THE CATCH

The freighter-class transport was no ordinary haul. Fiddruin’s Occator, flown for Goonswarm Federation’s Brothers of Tyr, was carrying a vast stock of compressed ore when Rote Kapelle and allied pilots closed in. What began as a 9-participant skirmish quickly turned into a hunt for a target carrying more than 6.3 billion ISK in dropped cargo, making the ship itself only part of the story.

THE PRESSURE

Rote Kapelle committed at least five attackers to the destruction, with TRlAGE GREEN in a Cerberus delivering the final blow. Other pilots added the weight needed to keep the transport pinned in place: No Underpants Solutions in a Gnosis, We Escelated in another Cerberus, Kivakork Oskold in a Curse, and Kaeser in a Panther. The composition suggests a coordinated strike built to overwhelm a vulnerable hauler before escape became possible.

THE LOSSES

The Occator’s destruction accounted for the entire 8.4 billion ISK loss in the engagement. Although more than two billion ISK of the ship and fittings were destroyed outright, the real prize appears to have been the cargo, with huge volumes of compressed Plagioclase, Veldspar, and Scordite variants spilling from the wreck or going up with the ship. For a single transport to be carrying that much value, and to lose it in seconds, makes this a hard blow to both ship and shipment.

THE SIGNIFICANCE

Even by New Eden standards, this was the kind of loss that draws attention: a transport caught with its hold full of valuable resources and unable to get clear. For Rote Kapelle, it was a clean interception and a substantial payout. For Goonswarm Federation, it is a reminder that even a sturdy hauler can become a very expensive mistake when it strays into the wrong place at the wrong time.

That is not a skirmish somebody stumbled into. That is a decision, made over and over, for the better part of four hours.
