A 2.4 billion ISK Occator was destroyed in Jita after Vendetta Mercenary Group caught the transport and brought it down in a brief but costly interception. The loss left only a split of cargo and wreckage behind, with the final blow credited to Abazaga in a Khizriel.

THE CATCH

The transport was taken down in Jita, one of New Eden’s busiest and least forgiving places to make a mistake. On paper it was a single-loss event, but the price tag makes the result feel much larger: an Occator carrying a substantial load was caught by a small but committed Vendetta Mercenary Group response.

THE INTERCEPTION

The attackers numbered four in the decisive exchange, backed by an overall participant count of eight in the wider engagement. Luukje’s Devoter and LuckyNumber’s Proteus suggest the hunters brought the tools needed to pin a target in place, while Mario Toretto’s Stiletto appears to have helped keep the field controlled. Abazaga, flying a Khizriel, delivered the final blow that ended the escape attempt.

THE LOSS

The wreck tells the rest of the story. Roughly 1.5 billion ISK was destroyed and 929.5 million ISK worth of material was recovered or dropped, including ammunition and cargo from both sides of the fight. For Paul Reichts of OnlyFleets., flying under the Irradiated corporation banner, the loss of an Occator in Jita is the sort of setback that can be felt immediately and remembered long after the smoke clears.

WHY IT MATTERS

What makes this strike stand out is not scale, but precision. Vendetta Mercenary Group did not need a fleet battle to make its point; it only needed to catch a valuable industrial hull in the wrong place at the wrong time. In Jita, where movement is constant and caution is never optional, that kind of interception can be as punishing as any major fight.
