A 2.3 billion ISK Nestor was caught and destroyed in Aunenen after a small but effective ambush brought an apparent travel or scanning operation to a sudden end. The ship’s loss to Murder Hobos. came with a heavy cargo of destroyed and recovered fittings, and the final blow was dealt by Salt Machin3 in a Redeemer.

THE CATCH

The engagement was brief, but it was costly. In Aunenen, a Nestor flown by DRJohn Ziobderg of Signal Cartel and EvE-Scout Enclave was destroyed in a fight involving eight pilots overall. On paper, it was a small encounter; in practice, it was enough to overwhelm a valuable strategic cruiser and strip away a ship that clearly had been operating with a full suite of exploration and scanning equipment.

THE HUNT

The attackers were led by Murder Hobos., with support from at least one pilot from Snuffed Out and another listed among the attackers in an Arazu. Salt Machin3’s Redeemer landed the final blow, with K Vicemen’s Panther contributing significant damage as well. The presence of covert-capable hulls suggests this was not a brawl so much as a carefully timed catch, the kind of hunt that leaves little room for a large ship to escape once it has been pinned down.

THE LOSSES

The Nestor did not go quietly. More than 1.3 billion ISK in value was destroyed with a further 945.1 million ISK recovered, making the ship a serious loss even before the fittings are considered. Among the wreckage were 999 Nanite Repair Paste destroyed outright, along with Sisters Core Scanner Probes and Sisters Combat Scanner Probes lost in the fire. The data also shows Core Scanner Probes and Noise-5 ‘Needlejack’ Filaments among the items involved, which points to a vessel that was prepared for work far from home and possibly in transit or deep in exploration territory when it was caught.

THE AFTERMATH

For EvE-Scout Enclave and Signal Cartel, the destruction of a Nestor in Aunenen is the sort of setback that stings because of both cost and capability. For Murder Hobos. and their allies, it was a clean, high-value capture: a single ship removed from the field before it could slip away. In a region where mobility and caution often decide survival, this was a reminder that even a well-equipped cruiser can vanish quickly once a covert team gets the timing right.
