A Nereus worth 3 billion ISK was destroyed in Jita after a brief strike by ZbangBangHeereeeewego, with a Tornado delivering the final blow. The loss left Broken Chains Alliance nursing a costly wreck in New Eden’s busiest trade hub.

THE STRIKE

The attack in Jita was over almost as soon as it began. In a system where pilots are usually more concerned with trade lanes than firefights, the Nereus became the focus of a sharp, high-value ambush that ended with the industrial hauler burning out under artillery fire.

THE TORNADO'S WINDOW

Spacyyyyyy Eyrou, flying a Tornado for ZbangBangHeereeeewego, landed the finishing volley and accounted for the ship’s destruction. The Nereus, flown by Vindicator Hariere of Broken Chains Alliance and Minmatar Death Squad, was exposed long enough for the attack to take hold, and the result suggests the target was caught without room to absorb the incoming damage.

THE LOSSES

The hull and fittings made the destruction especially painful. Of the estimated 3 billion ISK total value, 2.3 billion ISK was destroyed outright, while 668.9 million ISK in value dropped from the wreck. Notable modules aboard included Dark Blood Heavy Energy Nosferatus, True Sansha Medium Energy Neutralizers, and Republic Fleet Target Painters, underlining that this was no routine industrial loss.

THE CONSEQUENCE

With only four participants recorded in the engagement, the fight remained small on paper but heavy in effect. In Jita, even a brief interception can carry outsized consequences, and the destruction of a well-fit Nereus is a reminder that no ship is entirely safe once it becomes visible in the wrong place at the wrong moment.
