THE CATCH
The engagement in Indregulle was brief, but the result was anything but ordinary. Ralvas Kishunuba’s Manticore was destroyed in a fight involving just four participants, suggesting a tightly focused encounter rather than a broad fleet clash. For a ship built around speed, stealth, and opportunistic strikes, being pinned down long enough for a hostile Proteus to finish the job points to a hunt that closed quickly and cleanly.
THE PRIZE
The wreck carried the kind of value that makes even a small fight feel significant. Only 102.8 million ISK of the ship was destroyed, while roughly 4.7 billion ISK in value was recovered or dropped. Among the scattered cargo were large torpedo stocks, including 1,000 Caldari Navy Inferno Torpedoes and hundreds each of Inferno Rage, Nova Rage, Mjolnir Rage, and Caldari Navy Scourge Torpedoes. That loadout suggests the Manticore was not simply passing through empty-handed.
THE FINAL BLOW
RedF0x, flying a Proteus for A Band Apart., is credited with the final strike after inflicting 1,719 damage. In a single-loss fight, that detail matters: it suggests the target had already been pressured or cornered before the finishing hit landed. Whether the bomber was caught by bad timing, an exposed route, or a well-timed intercept, the outcome was decisive once the trap closed.
WHY IT MATTERS
For State Protectorate, the loss of a Manticore in such an expensive package is the sort of setback that lingers well beyond the moment itself. A stealth bomber can be replaced; a badly timed loss of cargo and hull value at nearly five billion ISK is harder to shrug off. In Indregulle, A Band Apart. appears to have turned a small encounter into a highly efficient kill, and those are the engagements that leave a mark.
