THE CATCH
The engagement in Heild unfolded over just a few minutes, but it carried the sort of pressure that only comes when expensive hulls commit too close to hostile guns. A 49-pilot fight developed around a trio of Machariels from Can i bring my Drake..., with OnlyFleets. and OnlyAlts. bringing the heavier end of the exchange. The attackers fielded 28 pilots on the final blow to the highest-value loss, and the ship list suggests they were built to punish any mistake that left the battleships exposed.
THE FIRST WRECK
The centerpiece of the fight was the loss of Ivan Taiga’s Machariel, a 1.3 billion ISK battleship flown for Q-Zar and finished off by JD Myers in an Apocalypse. Damage from several attackers piled in around the target, with Vindicator, Apocalypse, Tempest, and more Apocalypse fire all contributing to the kill. For a hull of that size, the margin for error is thin; once the Machariel was pinned under concentrated pressure, the outcome appears to have become only a matter of time.
THE PRICE OF STAYING
The wreck carried more than the hull itself. Large stockpiles of ammunition were either destroyed or scattered in the aftermath, including Hail L, Barrage L, Republic Fleet Fusion L, and 3,000 rounds of Republic Fleet EMP L that dropped into the field. Nanite Repair Paste also disappeared with the ship. Those details point to a ship committed for sustained fighting rather than a casual roam, which makes the loss sting all the more when the engagement turns against it.
THE LOSSES
Across the fight, three Machariels were destroyed for a combined value of 3.9 billion ISK. That kind of loss is not the sort of result that can be shrugged off as a routine skirmish, even in a region used to violence. For Can i bring my Drake..., the engagement in Heild suggests a costly interruption to whatever force they had on the field. For OnlyFleets. and OnlyAlts., it was a brief but effective interception that turned a short fight into a memorable prize.
