In this case, the ship was not caught in a sprawling fleet battle but in a tight five-pilot encounter in 3F-JZF, where the numbers suggest a fast, confined exchange rather than a prolonged chase. With the fight over almost as soon as it began, the expensive hull became the event itself.
A FIGHT WITHIN THE RANKS
What makes the destruction notable is the strange balance of the field: both attacker and victim were listed under Insidious., and both alliance IDs were the same. That may indicate an internal dispute, a split engagement, or simply a report where the lines between friend and foe were unusually blurred. Whatever the cause, the result was unmistakable — a battleship from the same organisation was reduced by a group that largely shared its banner.
THE BREAK
The final blow came from Ebika Erkkinen’s Machariel, with Surisen Parmala and Kakaga Muuna Oramara contributing the bulk of the pressure. An unknown attacker firing Scourge torpedoes added a sliver of outside damage, but the decisive work was done up close and fast. The wreck suggests the target was stripped of value before the end, with some ammunition and drones destroyed and other fittings slipping into wreckage or drifting free.
THE LOSSES
The Machariel went down with a total value of 2.3 billion ISK, of which 1.5 billion ISK was destroyed and 807.1 million ISK was recovered. Among the notable cargo and fittings were Guristas Lead Charge L, Guristas Mjolnir Cruise Missiles, Warrior II drones, Valkyrie II drones, and Hornet EC-300 drones. Even when some of that value escaped the blast, the loss remains a serious one for any fleet commander or lone pilot relying on a battleship this expensive.
WHY IT MATTERS
Single-ship losses of this size tend to echo well beyond the grid where they happen, and this one is sharpened by its unusual internal character. A Machariel is never a casual casualty, and when the destruction comes from within the same alliance it suggests friction, misjudgment, or a fight that spun out of control faster than anyone intended.
