THE CATCH
The fight in BB-EKF appears to have been a short, sharp interception rather than a drawn-out exchange. The target was a Rattlesnake, one of New Eden’s tougher and more expensive battleships, and it did not survive the attention of a Lazerhawks element built around covert-ops firepower. With only ten participants in the wider engagement, the encounter reads like a deliberate catch: enough ships to pin the target down, but not enough time for the situation to become a true brawl.
THE BREAK
The pressure came from multiple covert hulls, including a Widow, Redeemer, and Sin on the attacking side. Armadino in a Redeemer accounted for the largest share of the damage, while lady leisure in a Widow delivered the final blow. That combination suggests the victim was isolated quickly and then overwhelmed before any meaningful escape could develop. For a ship like the Rattlesnake, survivability is supposed to buy time; in this case, the window closed before it could matter.
THE LOSSES
The destroyers did not simply remove a battleship hull. They also stripped away a substantial cargo of heavy missiles, with Caldari Navy ammunition among the items recovered from the wreck and more lost with it. Of the 4.1 billion ISK total value, 2.5 billion ISK appears to have been destroyed outright and 1.6 billion ISK recovered as drops, making this a costly result for Brave Collective even without a larger battlefield collapse around it.
WHY IT MATTERS
Single-ship losses at this scale rarely need much explanation to sting. A Rattlesnake is already a statement of intent; losing one in BB-EKF to a compact covert attack from L A Z E R H A W K S makes the moment memorable on its own. The engagement may not have been large, but it shows how quickly a high-value ship can become a prize when the hunters arrive with the right tools and the target is caught without room to manoeuvre.
