THE CATCH
The fight in System 30002374 was over almost as soon as it began, but the result was anything but routine. Rote Kapelle’s small hunting force found an expensive target and turned the encounter into a fast, decisive loss for an independent pilot. The value alone makes the destruction stand out: a ship worth roughly 1 billion ISK, with more than 600 million ISK destroyed and another 391 million ISK recovered from the wreckage.
THE PRESSURE
The attacker list suggests a compact but effective tackle-and-damage setup. Kivakork Oskold’s Curse claimed the final blow and did the heaviest lifting, while three Ishtars and another support hull added pressure around the target. With six attackers credited on the kill, the engagement appears to have been a controlled hunt rather than a random brawl, the kind of close-range pursuit where a single mistake or moment of bad timing can turn a valuable ship into a wreck.
THE LOSSES
The destroyed ship, listed only as Ship 29986, belonged to an unidentified pilot flying for an independent operator and an unknown corporation. The wreck also tells its own story: valuable modules, ammunition, and repair supplies were either destroyed or dropped into space, including large quantities of unidentified items and Nanite Repair Paste. Whatever the ship was doing in the area, it was caught far enough from safety that Rote Kapelle had time to finish the job and strip the field.
WHY IT MATTERS
For Rote Kapelle, the engagement was a clean and profitable interception; for the victim, it was a painful reminder that expensive hulls in contested space are only one mistake away from loss. Even without a wider fleet battle attached to it, a billion-ISK ship going up in smoke is the kind of event that gets noticed. In EVE, the cost of being caught can be measured in seconds, and this one ended with a Curse holding the final word.
