THE CATCH

The action in J145846 was over almost as quickly as it began, but the losses were anything but routine. A 20-pilot engagement developed around two marauders on the Critical. Mass. side, and the fight appears to have turned immediately against them once No Vacancies. and other attackers got control of the grid. The result was a costly strike that left both a Golem and a Vargur wrecked in rapid succession.

THE GOLIATH THAT FELL

The bigger prize was LastDesire’s Golem, flown for Critical. Mass. by Svideteli Odina. Valued at 2.5 billion ISK, the ship drew heavy fire and collapsed before it could escape the pressure around it. Cryo Cattington in an Absolution delivered the final blow, but the damage had already been done by a mix of No Vacancies. and unaligned attackers. A significant share of the Golem’s fitting appears to have been saved, yet 1.8 billion ISK was still destroyed with the hull, while 711 million ISK worth of equipment dropped into the aftermath.

THE SECOND LOSS

The destruction of the Golem was followed by the loss of a Vargur, underlining that this was not a one-off misfortune. With both marauders committed in the same engagement, Critical. Mass. was left exposed to a fast, concentrated collapse. The ship split between the two sides suggests the fight was messy and contested at moments, but the field clearly belonged to the attackers by the time the wrecks were left behind.

WHY IT MATTERS

For No Vacancies., the engagement delivered a sharp and efficient payoff: two high-end battleships removed in a very short window. For Critical. Mass., the cost was immediate and painful, especially with a Golem among the losses.
