A 1.3 billion ISK Gila was caught and destroyed in AD081 in a brief but costly encounter that left little time for escape. The ship, flown by John Albon of Rainbow Dash Alliance, was overwhelmed by a small Vigilant Tyrannos group operating in the system, with the final blow landing from an Ephialtes Lancer.

THE CATCH

The fight in AD081 was over almost as soon as it began. A lone Gila became the focal point of a short engagement involving just five participants, and the outcome was decisive: the ship was destroyed, with 747.2 million ISK in hull and fittings lost outright and another 572.7 million ISK recovered by the victor.

THE HUNTERS

Vigilant Tyrannos fielded three named attackers in the engagement, led by an unidentified pilot in an Ephialtes Lancer who secured the final blow. Supporting fire came from Karybdis Tyrannos in a Drifter Assault Battleship and Scylla Tyrannos in a Drifter Nullwarp Cruiser, suggesting a compact hunting force built to pin down and finish isolated targets quickly.

THE LOSSES

The Gila’s cargo and fittings paint the picture of a ship that still had a working life left in it when it was caught. Caldari Navy and Scourge Fury light missiles, a Triglavian Survey Database, Nanite Repair Paste, and a stock of Zero-Point Condensate were among the items affected, with much of the loadout destroyed in the wreckage and some value recovered from the field.

THE SIGNIFICANCE

For Rainbow Dash Alliance and Dimensional Rift Marauders, the loss of a well-equipped Gila is a sharp and immediate setback. For Vigilant Tyrannos, it was a clean result from a small commitment of force — the sort of encounter that shows how quickly a valuable cruiser can disappear when it is found alone in dangerous space.

That is not a skirmish somebody stumbled into. That is a decision, made over and over, for the better part of four hours.
