THE CATCH
The fight in AD170 was over almost as soon as it began. Three participants were involved, but the story centred on a single target: Mitala Sasen’s Gila, a heavily fitted cruiser flying under the Test Alliance Please Ignore banner through Infinite Directive. Perun Clade claimed the final blow with a Harrowing Vedmak, and the exchange ended with the Gila removed from the field in a sharp, local skirmish.
THE PRIZE
This was not a routine cruiser loss. The Gila was worth 1.2 billion ISK, and the wreck left behind only part of that value for the attacker to recover. About 702.4 million ISK was destroyed with the hull and rigs, while 535.7 million ISK in dropped value remained in the aftermath. The cargo and fittings tell their own story: 18 Fierce Gamma Filaments were among the items recovered, while a Dread Guristas Drone Damage Amplifier and a Republic Fleet Large Shield Extender added weight to the kill. A Fierce Firestorm Filament was also lost in the destruction.
THE BREAK
The available data points to a brief but decisive interception. Two attackers were credited with damage, though only one delivered the final blow, and the Harrowing Vedmak appears to have done the real work, landing 43,676 damage. A Short-Range Deviant Automata Suppressor is also listed among the attackers, suggesting the target may have been pressured or restrained before the cruiser could escape. Whatever the sequence, the Gila was not able to turn the engagement into a fight of its own.
WHY IT MATTERS
For a single ship loss, the consequences are substantial. A well-fit Gila is never cheap to lose, and this one carried enough value to make the encounter memorable on its own. The presence of multiple filaments suggests a pilot operating at the edge of a quick exit, only to be caught before the route out of AD170 could be used. In New Eden, that is often all it takes: a moment of hesitation, a trapped hull, and a cruiser that seemed ready to leave the system instead ending up as expensive wreckage.
