A 1.7 billion ISK Gila was destroyed in AD058 in a fight that appears to have been over almost as soon as it began. Karl Petersen of Lightyears Apart lost the cruiser to an unnamed attacker flying under the banner of Unaligned attackers, with the final blow credited to a vessel listed as Unstable Abyssal Depths.

THE CATCH

The engagement in AD058 involved just two pilots, but the price of the outcome was far from small. Petersen’s Gila was the clear prize of the encounter, a heavily valued cruiser that stood out the moment the fight was joined. In a matter of seconds, the ship was gone, leaving behind a wreck worth more than a billion ISK in destroyed assets and another 553.1 million ISK in dropped fittings.

THE BLOW STRUCK

The attacker side is listed simply as Unaligned attackers, and the final blow came from an unknown pilot flying Unstable Abyssal Depths. That sparse identification suggests a quick, isolated hunt rather than a drawn-out fleet action. The Gila’s cargo and fit included thousands of Scourge Fury Light Missiles, Zero-Point Condensate, and Triglavian Survey Database items, indicating a ship prepared for work that was interrupted before it could continue.

THE LOSSES

For Lightyears Apart, the destruction of a Gila worth 1.7 billion ISK is a sharp and immediate loss. The split between destroyed and dropped value shows that some of the ship’s contents survived the blast, but not enough to soften the blow. With only one victim and one attacker recorded, this was a clean and costly removal, not a brawl.

WHY IT MATTERS

Even small engagements can sting when the target is expensive enough to matter on its own. The loss in AD058 appears to have been less about numbers and more about timing: one ship exposed at the wrong moment, one hunter in the right place, and a valuable cruiser brought down before it could escape or answer back. In New Eden, that is often all it takes.
