The target was KINDA AGOR’s Mastodon of Critical. Mass., flown by a pilot from The Edge of Heretics and carrying a total value of 2.2 billion ISK. Most of that value appears to have survived the first volley, with 2 billion ISK in loot dropping from the wreck and 257.8 million ISK destroyed alongside the ship. For a hauler, that is the sort of cargo load that turns a routine move into a major risk.
THE CATCH
The engagement took place in Otsasai and lasted only a moment, but the presence of 19 participants suggests the ship was not alone for long. Fraternity. brought a mixed strike force to the scene, with damage landing from a Cerberus, two Gnosis hulls, an Abaddon, and a Loki among others. The final blow came from Inonization Metal flying a Gnosis, but the Mastodon had already been softened by concentrated fire from gouldingr Sarn’s Cerberus and the rest of the gang.
THE COLLAPSE
The hauler’s defenses gave way under focused fire, and the cargo did not save it. Among the items lost or spilled were thousands of rounds of Republic Fleet ammunition, Hail L, Barrage L, and Nanite Repair Paste, a telltale reminder that this was a ship fitted for movement and prepared to keep going. Once the damage control failed, there was no evidence of a successful escape or reinforcements arriving in time to change the outcome.
WHAT IT MEANS
For Fraternity., the destruction of a 2.2 billion ISK Mastodon is less about the hull itself than the value extracted from the kill and the disruption inflicted on a rival organization’s logistics. For Critical. Mass., it is an expensive reminder that even haulers can become high-value targets when they are exposed at the wrong moment. In a region where a single interception can decide whether a shipment arrives or disappears into wreckage, Otsasai has now produced one more cautionary tale.
