Charon Cut Down in Uedama After Brief Convoy Hunt

A Charon industrial was destroyed in Uedama after a short but concentrated attack that left the freighter wrecked and its cargo scattered in the lane. The 4.2 billion ISK loss came with little room for escape once the attackers had the ship pinned down.

THE CATCH

The target was Markus VamHana’s Charon, operating in Uedama under the banner of Can i bring my Drake.... In a system long associated with dangerous travel, the freighter became the focus of a 16-participant engagement that appears to have closed quickly once contact was made.

THE PRESSURE

L.E.G.I.O.N provided the visible cutting edge of the attack, with three Coercers named in the damage report and zLegion 02 of L.E.G.I.O.N delivering the final blow. Support also came from Emergency Temporal Shift. pilots flying Ibis hulls, suggesting a small but determined group was helping to keep the freighter under constant threat until the end.

THE COLLAPSE

The Charon did not survive long enough to shed much. Only a tiny amount of cargo appears to have survived the wreck, while items including Reinforced Bulkheads II were among the few modules to drop. More tellingly, the ship’s losses included cargo such as Viridian and Celadon Mykoserocin, both destroyed in the wreckage rather than recovered.

THE COST

For a single ship loss, the destruction was anything but routine. A Charon is one of New Eden’s most recognisable freight haulers, and losing one in Uedama means the route once again proved costly for anyone caught exposed in the wrong place at the wrong time. The attack may not have been a fleet battle, but it was a clean and expensive catch.

That is not normally the opening line of a 192 billion ISK story, but Dal spent the next three hours and forty-one minutes making sure nobody forgot it. By the time the last capsule in the system - belonging to x Never Regret x - came apart at 19:56, 557 pilots had produced 516 confirmed losses, fourteen capital ships had been wrecked, and the Heimatar system had eaten just over 192 billion ISK. That is not a skirmish somebody stumbled into. That is a decision, made over and over, for the better part of four hours.
