THE CATCH
The loss came in a brief but expensive strike that left little room for escape. In Gheth, a Charon carrying the kind of value that immediately draws attention was destroyed after being cornered by a 17-participant engagement that appears to have tilted decisively in the attackers' favour. Novus Ordo. was the only named attacking organisation in the report, and eight pilots are credited directly with the destruction.
THE STRIKE
The attack was spearheaded by Talos battlecruisers, with Don Gregorio, Don Tranquilino, Don Inocencio and Don Eustaquio all contributing substantial damage. A fifth attacker, Don Florencio of Something Really Pretentious, also appears among the top damage dealers, suggesting a coordinated hunt rather than a lone opportunistic shot. The Charon was not simply overwhelmed by numbers; it was dismantled quickly enough that the final blow came from a Talos before any meaningful escape could take shape.
THE LOSSES
What remained on the field underlines how little of the cargo survived the destruction. Only 2.6 million ISK worth of items dropped from the wreck, while enormous freight containers and inertial stabilisers were split between destruction and salvage. For a ship built to move significant value, the result was a punishing end: an 8.8 billion ISK freighter gone in moments, with the contents and fittings offering almost no cushion to the loss.
WHY IT MATTERS
Freighter losses always sting, but this one stands out for the speed of the collapse and the value stripped from a single target. The report suggests Novus Ordo. found the Charon exposed, isolated, or otherwise vulnerable at exactly the wrong moment. In New Eden, that is often all a hunting force needs: one expensive ship, one brief opening, and a wreck that tells the whole story.
