THE CATCH
What began in DBT-GB ended with a freighter gone and only one attacker credited with the final blow. The Charon, one of New Eden’s more vulnerable high-value hauling platforms when caught in the wrong place, was brought down in a fight involving just three participants. The scale suggests an interception rather than a broad fleet action: a fast, focused engagement that left little room for escape.
THE PRICE OF BEING CAUGHT
The destruction of the Charon accounts for the entire reported loss, valued at 1.4 billion ISK. Only 309,907 ISK in cargo appears to have survived, while Expanded Cargohold II modules were largely destroyed with just one copy dropping. For a ship built to move goods, the loss is starkly simple: the hull itself was the prize, and the catch was clean enough to deny almost everything inside it.
THE FINAL BLOW
The deciding strike came from death hops in an Erebus, which delivered the final blow and did the bulk of the damage recorded. That detail gives the loss an added edge: a supercapital finishing a freighter is a reminder that in EVE, scale does not always match target. When a ship like the Charon is isolated, even a single determined attacker can turn a routine transit into a costly mistake.
WHY IT MATTERS
The fight also stands out for the fact that both victim and attacker are tied to Test Alliance Please Ignore and Black Omega Security. That may indicate an internal stumble, a local hunt, or simply an unfortunate meeting in the same theatre, but the data alone does not resolve the wider context. What is clear is the result: a valuable industrial ship was destroyed quickly, and DBT-GB saw a brief engagement end in expensive failure.
