Cerberus Lost in 1.5B ISK Ambush in AD082

A Cerberus worth 1.5 billion ISK was caught and destroyed in AD082 in a brief fight that ended almost as quickly as it began. The heavy assault cruiser, flown by Protorin of BLOBinA, was brought down by a small group tied to DED, with three attackers contributing to the kill and one of them delivering the final blow.

THE CATCH

The engagement in AD082 appears to have been a fast interception rather than a drawn-out battle. Only four participants were involved, and the Cerberus was the clear prize from the moment the fighting started. For a ship of that class and value, there was little room for error once hostile ships were on grid.

THE BREAK

The attackers included a Skybreaker Disparu Troop flown under DED, a Striking Damavik from Perun Clade, and a third hostile identified as a Medium-Range Deviant Automata Suppressor. The Damavik account for most of the recorded damage, while the Skybreaker landed the finishing strike. That combination suggests the Cerberus was pressured quickly and could not outlast the incoming fire long enough to escape or recover.

THE LOSSES

The destroyer’s tally shows how much was at stake. About 1.1 billion ISK in assets was destroyed with another 353.2 million ISK recovered as drops, while ammunition, nanite paste, and Triglavian Survey Database material were among the items lost in the wreck. The ship itself was the main blow, but the cargo and fittings underline how heavily the Cerberus had been prepared for action.

WHY IT MATTERS

For BLOBinA and the Can i bring my Drake... organization, the loss of a Cerberus is more than a simple cruiser kill. It is an expensive reminder that even disciplined, high-end hulls can be isolated and overwhelmed in seconds.
