A capsule worth 1.1 billion ISK was destroyed in Mamenkhanar when an unidentified attacker in an EDENCOM Heavy GunStar landed the final blow. The loss was brief, but the price tag was anything but: a pilot from R A I D E R S academy saw their escape end in a flash, along with several expensive implants.

THE CATCH

The engagement in Mamenkhanar was over almost as soon as it began, with just two participants recorded in the encounter. On one side was an unaligned attacker; on the other, ZzTopACDC of R A I D E R S academy, flying a capsule rather than a combat hull. That alone suggests the pilot was already in the most vulnerable state possible, with no ship left to absorb the blow.

THE FINAL BLOW

The killing strike came from an unknown attacker flying an EDENCOM Heavy GunStar. The damage was modest in raw terms, but it was enough to end the capsule and seal a loss that reached 1.1 billion ISK. In EVE, a pod is never just a pod when it is carrying a stack of expensive implants, and that appears to have been the case here.

THE LOSSES

Among the items destroyed were a Zainou 'Gnome' Shield Management SM-705, an Ocular Filter - Improved, a Social Adaptation Chip - Improved, a Zainou 'Deadeye' Target Navigation Prediction TN-905, and a Zainou 'Gypsy' CPU Management EE-605. Those losses help explain why a single capsule could become such a costly event so quickly. Once the pod was caught, there was no recovery left to make.

WHY IT MATTERS

For R A I D E R S academy, the immediate consequence was the destruction of a valuable clone and the implants within it. For the attacker, it was a clean, decisive finish delivered by a lone ship in a very small encounter. The fight in Mamenkhanar did not become a fleet action or a running chase, but it did show how quickly a quiet moment can turn expensive in New Eden.
