THE CATCH
The engagement in Piak was small and abrupt: just two pilots, one ship, and no sign of a wider fleet presence. For Iriana Targurian, the Buzzard represented the kind of vessel that usually survives by staying unseen and slipping away before danger can close the distance. Instead, it appears the covert frigate was found and pinned down by a lone attacker from Unaligned attackers.
THE KILL
The final blow came from an unknown pilot in a Raznaborg Starving Vedmak, a ship built to punish mistakes and overwhelm fragile targets once contact is made. Against that pressure, the Buzzard did not survive long enough to turn the encounter around. The destroyer’s damage was enough to finish the job, and the fight ended with the covert ship going up in flames in a matter of moments.
THE LOSSES
Most of the Buzzard was lost with the hull, with about 1.1 billion ISK destroyed and only 51.4 million ISK recovered from the wreck. Among the wreckage, a Tripped Power Circuit was among the few items to come out intact, while a long list of subsystem components and fittings — including Malfunctioning Shield Emitters, Charred Micro Circuits, Enhanced Ward Consoles and Trigger Units — were consumed in the destruction. For a ship that depends on stealth and careful positioning, the loss was both expensive and brutally complete.
THE SIGNIFICANCE
On paper, this was a tiny engagement. In practice, it was a costly reminder that even covert vessels can be caught if the hunter times the strike well enough. The 1.2 billion ISK loss in Piak will not reshape a region, but it stands out as the kind of sharp, sudden ambush that EVE pilots remember: a brief encounter, a fast decision, and an expensive ship left behind.
