THE CATCH
The engagement in Hakonen was over almost as quickly as it began, but the result was anything but routine. Targey en Distel’s Barghest was caught and destroyed in a fight that involved only eight pilots in total, with Prussian BIue credited as the attacker org behind the kill. For a battleship built around projection and firepower, there was no room for error once the trap closed.
THE KILLING BLOW
The final blow came from Tsukishima Haruka flying a Cenotaph, with 34,908 damage credited to the last shot. Two other attackers were present on the field: Nagato Yuk i in a Proteus and QHei in a Brutix Navy Issue. The ship itself did not survive long enough to turn the fight into a brawl, suggesting the attackers were able to concentrate fire before the Barghest could escape or meaningfully respond.
THE LOSSES
The destruction was severe even by battleship standards. Of the 1.4 billion ISK lost, 1.2 billion ISK was destroyed outright, while 140.9 million ISK in fittings and cargo were recovered from the wreck. The hold tells its own story: thousands of Fury cruise missiles were either lost or destroyed, including Inferno, Scourge, Nova and Mjolnir loads, pointing to a ship prepared for serious combat rather than routine travel.
THE SIGNIFICANCE
For Fraternity Auxiliary, the loss of a Barghest is the kind of blow that is felt immediately, not just in ISK but in the removal of a high-end combat hull from the field. For Prussian BIue, it is a clean and expensive prize, won with a small force in Hakonen and sealed before the target could turn the tables. In New Eden, that is often all it takes for a single moment to become the day’s most memorable mistake.
