THE CATCH
The target in Finid was an Athanor, one of the most vulnerable kinds of prize to appear on the field: too large to ignore, too valuable to dismiss, and too slow to survive once hunters have committed. Zone Exclusion lost the structure in a clash involving 12 participants overall, while AlcoSquad’s attackers accounted for the destruction. For a structure of this class, the loss is already painful; the price tag makes it harder to shrug off.
THE PRESSURE
The attack was carried by a coordinated group of Ikitursas, with AlcoSquad pilots applying the bulk of the damage. RomanOlegovich Sokolov in an Ikitursa delivered the final blow, but the work was spread across several attackers, including cuccubus, Gentoo Hardened, Oliver Keat, and Mark Apol. That distribution suggests a focused gang rather than a lone opportunist — the kind of attack that leaves little room for a structure to stabilize or escape the inevitable.
THE COLLAPSE
When the Athanor finally went down, it took with it an asset value listed at 1.4 billion ISK, with more than 680 million ISK destroyed and just over 704 million ISK dropped. Among the spoils was the Athanor Upwell Quantum Core, a reminder that even when part of the value survives the blast, the defeat still lands hard. The structure was owned by Zone Exclusion, while the attackers came from AlcoSquad and Big Gang The0ry.
WHY IT MATTERS
Single-structure losses rarely make noise in the way a major fleet battle does, but they matter because they are concrete, expensive, and hard to replace cleanly. In Finid, AlcoSquad appears to have found a clean opportunity and turned it into a costly loss for its target. For Zone Exclusion, the destruction of an Athanor is more than wreckage — it is a visible sign that control in the area can be challenged, and that hunters are willing to come back when the prize is worth the risk.
