THE CATCH
What began as a small-scale interception in Claulenne ended with a costly Astero on the wrecking field. The attack involved just two hostile pilots, but the result was enough to turn a quiet encounter into a very expensive loss for the victim. Against that kind of pressure, even a covert hunter can become a trapped target in a matter of moments.
THE PRESSURE BUILDS
The attackers committed a Kuma’s Scorpion Navy Issue and an Acquisition Ferox, a pairing that suggests the target was not simply stumbled upon and ignored. The Scorpion Navy Issue appears to have done the heavy lifting in the damage, while the Ferox landed the final blow. For an Astero, a ship built to operate on the edge of danger, that is a particularly unforgiving combination.
THE COLLAPSE
When the ship went down, the damage was already done: 826.1 million ISK was destroyed, with only 258.7 million ISK recovered from the wreck. Among the items lost were Warpath Operational Intel, Warpath Supply Cache cargo, nanite repair paste, and Sisters Core Scanner Probes — the sort of tools that suggest the Astero was deep into scanning and covert work when it was overtaken.
THE COST
For Kitchen Sinkhole, the loss of a single Astero may not reshape a campaign, but it still marks a sharp and immediate setback. Expensive covert frigates are chosen because they can move, scout, and survive where others cannot; when one is caught, the loss lands far harder than its size suggests. In Claulenne, that risk finally caught up with Starseeker Arina’s ship and left the attackers with a clean and valuable prize.
