THE CATCH

The engagement in XV-MWG was brief, but it was expensive. Chakmal’s Astero, flown for Goonswarm Federation’s Asteroid Farm Unlimited, was cornered by a force that included Seventh Sanctum. pilots and supporting ships from The Initiative. The ship’s value alone made it a tempting prize; its fittings and cargo pushed the total loss to 1.1 billion ISK.

THE HUNT CLOSES

The attacking side brought 11 credited participants to the destruction, with the heaviest pressure coming from Shad0wsFury in a Legion. Alongside the Legion were interdiction and assault hulls including an Eris and multiple Svipuls, suggesting the Astero was being pinned down and kept from slipping away. That kind of composition points to a deliberate catch rather than a chance encounter.

THE BREAK

Once the Astero was held, the fight appears to have turned quickly. The ship’s defensive drones and scanning equipment were partly lost and partly scattered in the wreckage, including Hornet EC-300s, Hornet IIs, and Sisters Core Scanner Probes. The final volley from Shad0wsFury sealed the loss, ending any chance of an escape before the covert frigate could re-establish distance or regain control of the field.

THE COST

For Goonswarm Federation, losing an Astero at this price is more than a routine skirmish loss. The ship was not simply destroyed; a substantial portion of its value was removed with it, while the remainder was stripped away in the wreck. For Seventh Sanctum., the result is the sort of clean, high-value interception that rewards patience and coordination, and in XV-MWG it was enough to make a short fight feel like a hard lesson.
