THE CATCH

The fight in SLVP-D was over almost as soon as it began, but the result was anything but trivial. One Apocalypse, flown by Diva2 of Goonswarm Federation’s Peoples Liberation Army corporation, was trapped in a small engagement involving five participants and a total value of 1.4 billion ISK. The numbers suggest a close-range clash rather than a sprawling battle, with the target exposed long enough for damage to build quickly.

THE BURN

Three Goonswarm battleships — Diva3, Diva4, and Diva5, all in Apocalypses — did the bulk of the work, landing nearly identical levels of damage on the target. Their combined pressure left little room for a clean escape, and an additional attacker listed as an Angel Dreadnought added another layer of fire to the engagement. The mix suggests the target was under sustained focus rather than being picked off by a single lucky volley.

THE LOSS

When the Apocalypse finally went down, the destruction was substantial. More than 943 million ISK in hull and fittings was lost, while 479.5 million ISK in modules and cargo appears to have been recovered. Among the destroyed items were a Reactive Armor Hardener, a Republic Fleet Large Proton Smartbomb, and a Large Capacitor Control Circuit I, while a Republic Fleet Large Cap Battery and Cap Recharger II were among the items that survived the wreck.

WHY IT MATTERS

Even without the scale of a major fleet battle, this was a sharp and expensive hit. A battleship-class loss in the hands of the same organization on both sides of the record points to a brief but decisive internal or local clash in which the margin for error was slim. In New Eden, small fights can still carve out serious losses, and SLVP-D just claimed one of them.
