THE CATCH

The engagement in Z-N9IP was over almost as soon as it began. One Dracarys. Alligator, flown by Adolique Thiesant of Dusk dreadnought., was caught by an attacker listed only as an unknown combatant in a Gist Seraphim. With just two pilots involved, there was no room for reinforcements, no room for recovery, and little time for the target to respond once the fight was committed.

THE BREAK

The Alligator was not a throwaway loss. At 1.3 billion ISK, it was a costly ship to lose in a fight that appears to have hinged on timing and exposure rather than numbers. The damage was decisive enough to strip the ship apart before it could escape, with more than 643 million ISK destroyed and a further 653.9 million ISK recovered by the attacker.

THE LOSSES

The wreck left behind a mix of destroyed and dropped fittings that underline how much value was on the line. A Republic Fleet Large Cap Battery, Medium Capacitor Control Circuit II, and Drone Link Augmentor I were destroyed, while a Multispectrum Shield Hardener II and Drone Damage Amplifier II were among the items that dropped from the hull. For Dracarys., the loss was not just the ship itself but a fully armed platform stripped down in a matter of moments.

THE SIGNIFICANCE

With only one ship destroyed, this was a small engagement in scale, but the price tag makes it memorable. The fight suggests a clean interception by an opportunistic hunter rather than a prolonged exchange, and the result will sting all the more because the attacker escaped carrying a large share of the value.
