Three Lost Praxis Battleships Turn a Vale Engagement Into a Financial Bloodbath

In 4-HWWF, a fleet engagement produced a combined loss value of 605.5B ISK, driven almost entirely by a handful of expensive hulls rather than a mass of wrecks. Fraternity Auxiliary lost two costly Praxis battleships, and Fraternity itself lost a third Praxis in the same fighting. The disparity in value between those losses and the rest of the engagement made it as much a financial shock as a military one.

The Costly Praxis Losses

words2says, flying for Fraternity Auxiliary, lost two Praxis battleships during the engagement. The larger of the two was valued at 321B ISK, with the final blow credited to Astralis N1 of Fraternity. A third Praxis also fell, adding another heavy loss.

A Wider Brawl of Battlecruisers and Cruisers

Around those expensive losses, the engagement saw a prolonged exchange of smaller ships. Flying Dangerous lost a string of Hurricanes and Prophecies, along with a few cruisers, none approaching the value of the Praxis hulls. Fraternity. also lost Jackdaws and other ships in the fighting, while pilots from Pandemic Legion and Solyaris Chtonium were among those landing final blows. The fighting stretched on for hours, but the financial weight remained with the battleship losses.

The Price of the Fight

The engagement's overall cost was dominated by the three Praxis losses, but even excluding them, the field contained other notable wreckage, including a Bestower. Still, the loss of a single battleship alone could turn a routine skirmish into a painful financial event, and three such hulls made for a very expensive day. The incident served as a reminder that in New Eden, a handful of expensive hulls can outweigh an entire fleet of cheap ones.
