A Cloud of Bombers
Fraternity and Fraternity Auxiliary fielded a fleet built around Purifiers, Hounds and Manticores, dozens of stealth bombers massed for a single purpose. Across from them, Invidia Gloriae Comes committed five dreadnoughts: four Phoenix Navy Issues and a Phoenix. The disparity in numbers and hull types told immediately. Stealth bombers are fragile, but when they arrive in enough numbers they can chew through even the toughest capital armor.
The Capital Toll
The capitals were destroyed one after another. The most expensive hull was Daniel93's Phoenix Navy Issue, destroyed by YQ IS M1NED of Fraternity at a cost of 8.3B ISK. Three more Phoenix Navy Issues and one standard Phoenix followed in the same rolling exchange, each adding to the mounting total. The capital pilots fell in a span of minutes, their ships becoming the central wreckage of the engagement. Fraternity's own losses were far smaller in value, a scattering of subcapital hulls compared to the capital bill left by Invidia Gloriae Comes.
A One-Sided Exchange
By any measure of material loss, the exchange was lopsided. Invidia Gloriae Comes accounted for the vast majority of the engagement's cost, losing five dreadnoughts while Fraternity's bomber fleet sustained far cheaper subcapital losses. The numbers were lopsided: Invidia Gloriae Comes lost five dreadnoughts while Fraternity's losses were far cheaper subcapital hulls. For Invidia Gloriae Comes, the fight in DIBH-Q will be remembered for the wrecks left behind.
